Country Line Dancing & Lessons

Bar D Country Dance Lessons and Mason VFW present Country Style Line Dance and Lessons!  Classes are held every Thursday from 7pm to 9pm at VFW Post #7309 on Hull Road just south of Mason.  Dancing will take place after the class, with a cash bar and grille on site.  Admission is just $5 per person.  Don't miss out on the fun!

'Tis the Season for Winter Holiday Events

Our communities are so festive during the holidays! As the weather gets colder and the snow starts falling, our communities come together for fun events for the whole family. From parades to light shows and pictures with Santa, there's a little something for everyone. With so much to choose from, we've made a list of local events taking place to make your holiday planning a little easier. Bundle up and enjoy the town this winter season! 

Wonderland of Lights
November 17-December 31, 5 p.m. – 8 p.m.  | Potter Park Zoo (Lansing)
Every day until December 31, enjoy fun events for the whole family at Potter Park Zoo. The events include activities for the kids, entertainment and festive animal friends. Also, on Thursday through Sunday nights, the zoo transforms into a magical winter wonderland with thousands of holiday lights and extraordinary visual displays!

Alma Holiday Celebration
December 8, 5:45 p.m. | Downtown Alma
Alma's Annual Holiday Celebration. Enjoy the downtown parade, visits with Santa, Christmas 
caroling sleigh rides, pony rides and a tree decorating contest. Everyone is invited so come on down and enjoy a fun night with your family and friends!

Shepherd Maple Syrup Festival 2018

Everyone is invited to attend the annual Shepherd Maple Syrup Festival in April. The event will be held April 26 - April 29. It’s a great family weekend with parades, car display, carnival, tractor and horse pulls, bingo, arts and crafts, and the favorite of the event: delicious pancake meals all weekend long!

Alma Highland Festival and Games 2018

Come experience Alma’s claim to fame on May 26 and 27. The event brings members of Scottish clans and interested onlookers together for a weekend of Highland dancing, bagpipe-playing, kilts and camaraderie. The festival will be held on the Alma College campus both days. Don’t miss out on experiencing the very best of Scottish tradition!

Art Walk Central 2018

Art Reach of Mid-Michigan is hosting their art competition, Art Walk Central, during the entire month of August. State and national artists alike turn Mt. Pleasant into an art gallery, competing for over $10,000 in prizes! Visitors will see a variety of art pieces from paintings to sculptures and photography to crafts. There’s something for every art enthusiast at this event!

The streets of downtown Mt. Pleasant will have art displays for the public. Other venues include the Central Michigan University Art Gallery and the Ziibiwing Center. You can also visit the art reach website to vote for your favorite piece.
