What is your title?

Vice President - Lending

Tell us about you:

I have been married to Sue for over 40 years. I have a daughter named Brittany, who is married to Joel and has two daughters, Ella and Sophia. I LOVE being a grandpa! I have a son named Bryan, who is married to Ana! I LOVE being a grandpa! Sue and I love to travel to Lake Michigan, the U.P., Florida and other places. We like to walk, bike and hike and to just be together. We have a timeshare at Shanty Creek, which has becoming the "happy place" for us and our family. We go up there at different times of the year.

What do you love most about your job?

I really like the people I work with. I enjoy encouraging others here and getting to know about them and their families. I also like being able to help customers, and being out in the community. I like that I can just walk in and talk to our Senior Lender or our President at any time.

Community Involvement:

I have been in Rotary since 1990, having served as president twice. I have also served as board president of Big Brothers/Big Sisters and the Gratiot Area Chamber of Commerce. I have actually been a Big Brother to Carlos from the time he was 5-years-old. He recently graduated from Alma High School. I am currently Vice President of the Child Advocacy board. I work with Junior Achievement, visiting 3rd grade classrooms to talk about Our Community. I am very active at Community Church, serving as an elder and teacher of 1st and 2nd graders. I am also on the Alma Action Association committee.

Why do you love working for a community bank?

Because we can actually go out and visit with customers and prospective customers and show them how personable we can be. Also, because we are right in the middle of the things that are going on in our communities. We have casual days for very worthy causes. We give to things like Community Cabinet because we care about people in our community. We get to serve on boards like I mentioned above and give of our time. We're out there and people know us. If someone calls our bank for answers, they actually talk to a human.
